John Townsend
I am a dance teacher. Besides dance, I try to give my students larger life lessons picture about discipline, commitment, respect, and hard work. One student's mother is teaching her child to be cut-throat, competitive and self-focused. I love this student, but she's starting to act like a prima ballerina without earning the right to the title. I feel like I need to have a serious conversation with my student about character, honor, right and wrong, but it will involve an indirect criticism of her mother. Should I speak up as a teacher or just shut up and teach dance?
